A major consumer electronics retailer had strong SEO, established content, and a mature Adobe ecosystem. But much of that investment wasn’t translating into visibility across AI search.

DEPT® implemented Adobe LLM Optimizer to identify how large language models were reading, citing, and interacting with the retailer’s website. Within the initial implementation period, the retailer achieved:

These weren’t the results of a large-scale content overhaul, but rather the outcome of an intentional infrastructure fix.

Strong in search, harder for AI to understand

The retailer had already invested heavily in its digital foundation. Its website ran on Adobe Experience Manager, its content performed well in traditional search, and its e-commerce experience was thoughtfully designed around the needs of real customers. AI systems, however, saw something different.

Content that appeared clearly on the website wasn’t always accessible to large language models, and broken URLs prevented AI agents from reaching valuable pages. Important information was buried within components that models could not reliably interpret. And because the team wasn’t measuring AI discovery as its own channel, the business had little visibility into where the brand appeared, which pages were being cited, or how AI-generated referrals behaved once they reached the site.

Because the content itself was already strong, DEPT®’s role was to make the existing digital ecosystem easier for AI platforms to access, understand, cite, and recommend.

Building a measurable GEO foundation

DEPT® implemented Adobe LLM Optimizer to establish a dedicated generative engine optimization program across the retailer’s website.

The work combined prompt research, analytics configuration, technical remediation, and ongoing content optimization. Rather than treating GEO as an extension of traditional SEO reporting, the team built a distinct measurement framework around brand visibility, citations, AI referrals, and agentic activity.

Mapping AI discovery across the customer journey

DEPT® began by mapping approximately 190 prompts spanning awareness, consideration, conversion, and post-purchase behavior.

The prompt set combined branded and non-branded searches across high-priority categories, helping the retailer understand where it was already appearing and which commercially relevant conversations it was absent from.

This created a practical baseline for AI visibility and gave the team a repeatable way to assess performance as models, customer behavior, and business priorities evolve.

Connecting AI visibility to Adobe Analytics

DEPT® configured Adobe LLM Optimizer, connected Adobe Analytics, and enabled AI Traffic Insights through the retailer’s content delivery infrastructure.

Dedicated dashboards separate AI discovery from traditional organic search and track metrics including brand mentions, citation rates, referral traffic from LLM platforms, agentic traffic, and technical content visibility.

This gave the retailer its first consolidated view of how AI systems interact with the site, from the prompts that surface the brand to the behavior of agents and visitors after discovery.

Removing the technical barriers to AI visibility

The analysis showed that many of the retailer’s visibility issues were structural rather than editorial.

DEPT® identified 86 URLs associated with more than 7,200 unsuccessful AI-agent visits caused by 404 errors. By introducing redirects, the brand recovered that traffic and reconnected agents with relevant content.

The team also deployed priority URLs to the edge, updated HTML on key pages, and adjusted Adobe Experience Manager components where valuable content was present for users but effectively hidden from AI systems.

For complex pages, we leveraged AI-assisted simplification to make information easier for models to extract and interpret. This allowed optimized content to be delivered directly to AI agents through the retailer’s content delivery network, without requiring a complete website rebuild.

Measuring value beyond traffic volume

In April 2026, we deployed the 10 listed URLs to the CDN through LLMO, and we have since seen a significant increase in ChatGPT referral visits for May and June.

Specifically, in May, we saw 1,166 more visits—a 262.0% increase—compared to April.

The early results were significant: a 61% brand mention rate, a 29% citation rate, 27,500 referral visits from LLM platforms, and more than 182,000 AI-agent interactions with the website. One priority page alone was cited nearly 24,000 times in two weeks.

One of the most valuable findings, though, wasn’t simply the volume of visibility or traffic, but the intent behind it.

The retailer’s personal care category generated less AI-driven traffic than the laptops category, yet produced dramatically more orders. Not only were AI platforms sending more visitors in certain categories, but they were also sending customers with a higher likelihood of buying.

That insight reframed how the retailer measured GEO performance away from purely traffic volume. Citation quality, category-level intent, and downstream conversion behavior provide a clearer view of whether AI visibility is translating into commercial value. Ultimately, the goal is to be cited in the conversations that influence purchasing decisions—and to understand which of those citations are driving high-intent customers to the business.

Creating an ongoing GEO capability

The initial implementation gave the retailer a near-term visibility lift while also establishing an operating model for ongoing LLM optimization. Each month, the team can expand its prompt set, identify new technical and content opportunities, deploy updates, and measure how those changes affect citations and agentic traffic.

The brand didn’t need to replace its Adobe ecosystem or overhaul its entire content library. By making targeted changes to the infrastructure surrounding existing content, DEPT® helped turn a website built for human browsing into one that could also support AI-led discovery.

Make your Adobe ecosystem visible to AI

AI platforms are already reading, evaluating, and recommending brand content. Adobe LLM Optimizer helps reveal what they can access, what they overlook, and where technical or content changes can improve visibility.

As a Platinum Adobe Solution Partner, DEPT® helps brands implement that capability across prompt strategy, analytics, content infrastructure, and ongoing optimization—building a GEO program designed around measurable discovery and commercial impact.
