Our Impact

01 – Climate

We want to protect the climate. Today, DEPT® is a carbon neutral company. By 2023, we will be carbon negative.

  • Our carbon footprint: We’re a certified Climate Neutral brand. We have measured and offset 100% of our 2022 carbon emissions of 11,113 tonne Co2. We offset our carbon footprint via partner Terra Neutra. In 2021, the offsetting projects we supported included a cookstove project in India and a reforestation project in China.
  • Reducing our emissions: Through our Climate Neutral Certification, we’ve committed to a science-aligned target to reduce our Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 50% by 2030. We expect that our goal to have 90% of offices powered by renewable energy (prioritising low impact renewable energy) by the end of 2025 will support this objective.
  • Green travel: Based on our measurements, travel is one of our largest sources of carbon emissions. We are working to reduce our emissions from travel 7% per FTE year over year with initiatives such as subsidies to incentivise public transport and a flexible work from home policy.

02 – Impactful work

We believe that the best way to focus to have the greatest positive impact on the world is through the work we do with our clients.

As we work with clients from all around the world across industries, with different levels of global and local reach, DEPT® has the tremendous opportunity to leverage those partnerships to create a positive impact in the world. Innovative digital solutions can do everything from optimising carbon reduction strategies, to democratize access to learning, to building a thriving community.

That’s why we’re making it our goal for these projects to compose a minimum of 15% of our total revenue by 2023.

03 – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

We are lucky to have 78 nationalities represented at DEPT®, and we work hard to make everyone feel welcome and appreciated. We also know that we can always do better.

That’s why we’re working to build a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organisation. By 2023, our workforce will be a better representation of society at large and more than 40% of our leadership team and managers will be female or nonbinary.

We are also committed to undergoing a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategic planning process that respects and adjusts for the local realities in which we operate. DEI means different things for different countries, regions or continents, and we want to be able to be flexible and specific. This strategic planning process will result in localised and relevant targets and initiatives for our teams on topics such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, neurodiversity and more.

04 – Community

We’ve pledged to use 1% of our profits to support purpose-driven organisations via pro bono work and direct donations. In 2022, we’re proud that 0.96% of profits were donated to worthwhile causes.
