The five key success factors of every digital business

Data shows that commerce businesses are seeing record sales online coming into 2021, and e-commerce will drive two-thirds of retail growth. This number will rise to 85% by 2024. The digital imperative for commerce has never been stronger.

If you’re not reaching and engaging potential customers across a purchase journey that is increasingly online, you can be sure that another brand is. Brands must envision e-commerce as part of a holistic commercial offering and design a shopping experience that increases the number of touchpoints with customers while complimenting the in-store experience. Brands must build their digital presence with strategic vision that provides more value to their customers and allows them to innovate quickly and adapt to changes in the market.

During this Dept Talks Live, our founder and CTO, Bart Manuel, will be joined by guest speaker, Forrester VP and Principal Analyst, Sucharita Kodali, to discuss how the most successful commerce organisations are propelling their digital success. Based on Forrester’s recent research report “The Five Key Success Factors of Every Digital Business”, the talk will highlight the steps that companies are taking to build unique digital commerce offerings with significant differentiation in a highly competitive market.

Three Key Takeaways:
– Five key characteristics that the most successful commerce organisations share to positively impact their digital business
– Examples of how companies are building their digital business by harnessing people, creativity, data and technology
– How to optimise across talent, planning, metrics and market opportunity to drive success for your business

Bart Manuel
Co-Founder at Dept

During his physics studies at the TU-Delft, Bart had his first experiences with internet technology and the world wide web. The university network was the perfect playground to experiment with. So when his brother Paul approached him with the idea to start a business ‘building digital catalogues for electronics wholesalers on the internet’, he was on board quickly, intrigued by the real world opportunities of this exciting new technology. Together they founded TamTam in 1996 and quickly broadened their offering to design and build websites, and realised that whatever direction the internet would evolve, there would always be a need for an agency helping organisations be successful online. Fast forward 24 years and this still holds true, just at a bigger scale. The impact and development of digital technology has never ceased to accelerate since and to Bart there has never been a more exciting day in the history of his business than right now, today, to be trying to create the future. He keeps focusing on digital acceleration and the reinvention of businesses. Meanwhile, TamTam has evolved into Dept, a leading international digital agency, with Dimi Albers as CEO and Bart (& Paul) still involved on a full-time basis as board members and co-founders.
