This International Women’s Day, we’re joining forces with folks all over the world to #BreakTheBias and imagine a world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world in which difference is valued and celebrated. That’s a vision of gender equality that we can believe in.

When we think about gender equality within the context of tech, it’s understood there’s a lot of work to be done. A report from Deloitte showed that in major tech companies, only around 25% of technical employees are women. And, when looking at the statistics for technical management roles, that percentage drops even more.

As part of our contribution to International Women’s Day, we’re organising a panel of women to raise awareness of the stereotypes, discrimination, and challenges that women in tech face.

But, most importantly, we’ll also be showcasing and discussing the contributions our panelists have made across digital, tech, and the metaverse.

Because, all too often, in discussing the lack of women in tech, we forget the women who do work in tech.

These incredible women include start-up founders, CEOs, engineers, and specialists all working on the frontlines of innovation to change the world. View the full list of panelists below and help us #BreakTheBias by saving your slot!

Host Dept Talks Web3: a new era for the internet

Welcome to Web3, a new kind of internet.

Where Web2 was defined by corporate giants, Web3 is defined by a host of revolutionary new technologies. From AR and AI to machine learning and blockchain, these technologies have created a wealth of opportunity for innovation that we will explore during this one-of-a-kind livestream event.

This Dept Talk serves as both an introduction to Web3 and also as a deep dive into its potential.

• Explore the technologies behind Web3’s infrastructure, including blockchain and cryptocurrency.

• Unpack the Web3 experience, including NFTs, collectibles, and, of course, that thing everyone’s talking about: the metaverse.

• From CMO to CIO; hear from some of the experts behind our changing internet. Which game-changing projects they’re working on and what they believe Web3’s impact on the future will be.

Don’t miss your chance to make your brand a part of the internet’s latest era. Reserve your slot to learn how Web3 can boost your business and what new innovation lies around the corner.

Companies are in the middle of their transformation to become a digital-first business. The role of technology, IT and development teams is becoming crucial to meet the continuously changing customer expectations. During DEPT® Tech Day, we will talk to leading digital companies about what it takes to create a developer-first culture and organisation.

Organisations often fail to meet the needs of increasingly important digital teams. That is why it is essential to create a culture and organisation in which developers, engineers and other digital experts feel at home and are given the space to do their work well. DEPT® Tech Day is the event for digital and IT leaders who want to take the next step in connecting with the business and the rapidly growing role of their people in it.

Four key takeaways:
– How to become a tech driven organisation
– Creating a developer-first culture
– Attracting and retaining the right tech talent
– The impact, challenges and opportunities during the shift of becoming a tech focused organisation

Contents talks
Spotify: Creating a developer-first culture
In this interview we talk to Spotify about what they do to ensure that their culture and organization is developer-first. What do they do to attract the best tech talent and how do they create a culture in which teams have enough autonomy while working on one integrated platform?

Panel – KPN, Ahold Delhaize, DAS, and Univé: How to transform your organisation into a tech company
Not every IT department has the luxury to start from scratch or is used to act as a driver for business growth. During this panel, IT leadership of well known corporates will discuss which opportunities and challenges they face within their changing role during their companies’ transformation to become a more tech driven company.

PostNL: Digital acceleration at scale
During this interview with Bart Delmulle we will learn more about the digital acceleration program that he is running at PostNL. What are the main areas of focus for him, what are the main challenges he is facing, and how does make sure that the organization is able to adapt to these changes, on all levels and within all roles?

Picnic: How to build a tech first company
Picnic is one the fastest growing tech companies within the Netherlands. During this talk Picnic will explain what it takes to build and grow a tech company with the speed of light. What is the impact on the IT department and how do you find the right talent and make sure that they feel at home?

2021 has been a breakthrough year for cryptocurrency:

• The long awaited Bitcoin ETF hit Wall Street
• NFTs took the world by storm!
• We saw our first major exchange go public via Coinbase.
• The first country, El Salvador, began to recognize Bitcoin as legal tender.
• The community began taking serious steps to address some of the major limitations facing adoption by focusing on blockchains that are both scalable and eco-friendly.

While 2021 was exciting, there is no doubt the industry will build upon this momentum in 2022. And, with so much potential and fast-growing expectations around the impact of cryptocurrency on society, 2022 will be a critical year for brands to get involved.

Join DEPT® and Optimizely for an afternoon of thought-provoking discussions to inspire you on your digital journey in 2022 and beyond.

From AI to B2B commerce, personalisation to the cookieless future, discover the strategies, capabilities and technology required to create the digital experiences your business needs and your customers want.

Join us on Thursday 9 December, 14:00 – 16:30 GMT/15:00 – 17:30 CET.

Optimising the Future: CEO Interview
In this exclusive fireside chat, Optimizely’s CEO, Alex Atzberger and Dimi Albers, CEO at DEPT®, will share their views on how advancements in technology are shaping our collective digital future, and how the convergence of creativity, technology and data is helping organisations to accelerate their digital business.

Experimentation: the secret sauce to achieving optimal experiences
Every business wants to connect with their customers on a meaningful, relevant level. But while personalisation strategies look great on paper, implementing, monitoring and measuring the success of them can be a challenge. In this conversation, data expert Cristian van Nispen and Elizabeth Gabster, Director, Strategy & Value Consulting at Optimizely, will share how ever-changing customer journeys require a robust, future-ready experimentation and optimisation solution.

Raising the game of B2B Commerce: complex doesn’t have to mean boring
B2B Commerce can be extremely complex. From long buying cycles to complicated requirements, regulatory compliance to price disruptions. But just because something is complex, doesn’t mean it can’t be slick, seamless and impactful. In this conversation, B2B Commerce expert Philipp Bruns and Optimizely’s Product Management Director, Marc Bohnes, will share how B2B Commerce platforms are evolving to match the B2C customer experiences we’ve all come to know and expect.

The shifting data landscape: are Customer Data Platforms the silver bullet?
Customer Data Platforms are increasingly becoming a fundamental element of the marketing tech stack, but how and when should you be using them, and how can they impact your user experience? In this conversation, Data and technology experts, Marc Preusche will discuss the future of CDPs and the role they play in our cookieless future, and discover Optimizely’s vision for its recently acquired Zaius platform with Marcel Amosse, Director, Head of DXP DACH.

Data: humanity’s most important resource
Data is humanity’s most important new resource. Data has the capacity to give us new insight into every aspect of our lives. Not only does it change what we know, but also how we know it. But harnessing that data in meaningful ways comes with its challenges. In this interview, Phil Harvey, co-author of Data: A Guide to Humans and Principal Program Manager at Microsoft Research, will discuss how you can develop a business culture that accelerates your data practice, share the latest advancements in AI technology, and explain how empathy is the crucial factor in elevating our understanding of data.
