About You

The future of digital media lies at the intersection of creative, media, and technology – therefore – it's nearly impossible to ignore the continued growth of programmatic. DEPT’s growth journey is not atypical in the same regard and we’re investing heavily in enabling strategic brilliance and technical rigor from our programmatic team. 

We are looking for a Director, Programmatic to join our existing team within our Growth Labs division. This leadership position will work cross-functionally and operate as a consultant and escalation point for the agency at large, all while delivering cutting-edge, integrated media solutions. This individual will focus on growth and innovation, while contributing to build best-in-class training and operational rigor of our growing programmatic expertise. This position is responsible for mentoring a team of Associate Directors (Account Leads), Account Managers, and Coordinators. 

This person will join our Senior Management team and work closely with Client Services, Data Science & Analytics, New Business, and our Integrated Media Strategy teams. As a member of our Growth Labs team, you’ll be responsible for shaping our agency’s growing go-to-market strategy for Programmatic. This position will have a direct line of communication to our Senior Leadership & Executive Leadership team.  

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Driving programmatic strategy and improved client performance by pushing teams to think beyond the brief, embrace innovation, plan future-proof, and push past the status quo
  • Providing scaled thought leadership and strategic support across DEPT’s entire book of business, including contributing directly to new business pitches and cross sells
  • Being an escalation point and senior voice of programmatic authority for the agency, owning POV’s and thought leadership
  • Leading by influence and embody a coach mentality, providing feedback to Client Services leadership to support client retention/satisfaction and campaign performance 
  • Cultivating and maintaining successful, long term client relationships
  • Owning and leaning into agency-wide or client-specific relationships with DSPs, publishers, data partners, and other ad tech vendors to extract more value
  • Contributing to the development of agency-wide training series for technical practitioners and strategic leadership across Client Services 
  • Isolating Google Marketing Platform (GMP) opportunities and working closely with GMP, Client Services, and Data Science & Analytics team to deliver strategic and integrated cross sells as one team
  • Promoting our core values and driving a positive work environment/culture

You’ll need to have:

  • 7+ years of programmatic media buying and planning experience, including previous management of at least $1 million/mo
  • Expert knowledge of The Trade Desk and Google DV360, with previous exposure with Yahoo and Amazon DSP 
  • Strengths-based management and mentorship style, with the ability to flex for direct and indirect team structures to influence change and innovation
  • Successful track record of crafting and participating in new business pitches or existing client cross/up sells, and account audits
  • Uncanny ability to interpret complex data sets into a memorable story
  • Exposure with Google CM360, Integral Ad Science (IAS) and DoubleVerify, including working closely with internal or external Ad Operations teams
  • Strong problem solving skills and a strategic, yet creative/entrepreneurial mindset
  • A self-starter attitude with ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Deck building wizardry to build compelling material for clients and internal teams

Additional things that will impress us:

  • Deep experience in Google Analytics (specifically GA360 & GA4) 
  • Experience in data analysis and visualization (Data Studio and Tableau)
  • Previous experience with retail media networks (Criteo, Target/Roundel, Walmart, etc) and B2B DSPs (Demandbase, 6sense, Terminus, or Rollworks)
  • Use of a DMP, CDP, or other CRM connectivity into a DSP or other 1P/2P data augmentation
  • Demonstrated success with custom bidding and 3rd Party algorithm partners 
  • Background in ad operations, media planning, or new business

The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000 – $140,000. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, expertise, and organizational impact. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we're flexible.
