Facebook updates video ad metrics
To help marketers better understand how video ads engage audiences, Facebook is changing some of their video ad metrics.
3-second video views and 10-second video will only include unrepeated seconds, excluding any rewinds. This will cover reporting in Ads Manager and Page Insights.
As 70% of the time on average videos may not autoplay, Facebook adds a Video Plays metrics to better showcase the difference between impressions and plays. Additionally, video ad creators will be able to use a custom thumbnail. It appears when autoplay is not available.
At the same time, the platform will retire 30-Second Video View and Video Percentage Watched metrics.
I am curious to see how those new reporting metrics push marketers to produce better quality video content.
Watch Parties In Facebook Groups
There’s no party like a group party on Facebook. And now Facebook brings ‘Watch Party‘ to life. This new feature further incorporates video content into the fabrics of groups’ life. Members can host shared video streaming sessions, both live and recorded, to bring more content relevant to a community’s goals and activities. Participants are able to watch and engage with each other at the same time.
Facebook’s ‘Watch Party’ is just a great way to interact with communities. From swapping tips to a Q&A with special guests, Watch Party creates new ways to grow your groups around the content they love and value. Facebook is now testing the ability to launch ‘Watch Parties with non-group members. Watch Parties for Pages were mentioned as something to consider in the future.
Facebook adds AR ads in the news feed and video creation kit
Facebook is not slowing down with their AR proposition. Recently the platform announced businesses can use AR ads in the news feed. These ads will look normal but they will include the ‘Tap to try it on’ option. Once clicked, the AR setup will kick off. AR ads are currently being tested by selected advertisers.
To make mobile-optimised video creating easier, Facebook introduced Video Creation Kit. The kit aims at producing mobile videos while using existing images. The kit offers templates for marketers to create mobile-first video ads in the nick of time. Video Creation Kit is rolling out in August. It will cover ads for Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Audience Network.
Twitter reinforces the guidelines related to Live Chats
To make the platform safer for content creators and consumers, Twitter is introducing new tools to make conversations safer for live videos. People can vote on chats considered abusive. Group comment moderation will determine if reported commentators will be allowed to engage and comment. What’s more, since August 10th Twitter now can suspend any accounts for repeatedly violating the Community Guidelines. Broadcasters are allowed to opt out from having their streams moderated. Similarly, viewers can also opt out of taking part in moderation.
LinkedIn introduces voice messaging
If you find yourself in a situation where typing can be tricky, you might want to check out a new Linkedin messaging feature. For quick and easy replies, you can now send voice messages up to one minute long.
To record, simply select the mic icon from your mobile messaging keyboard. Tap and hold it to start recording and release when done. Voila! The feature is available on iPhone and Android.
LinkedIn launches new Campaign Manager
Running ads on LinkedIn? The new interface of the Campaign Manager will make your life easier. The design is much cleaner and natural to navigate through. You can easily switch between different levels of your projects to manage and view your accounts, ads and stats. From 1-click breakdowns to updated search capabilities, marketers can more quickly review and analyse data in more polished and structured settings.
Thanks to those enhancements, marketers can load data much faster and quickly find data to optimise results. In my view, the revamped Campaign Manager has elevated the whole reporting experience. LinkedIn is on the right path and I can’t wait to see what else they have for LinkedIn advertisers.
Snapchat adds Lens Explorer
Did you know there are over 100,000 unique Lenses submitted since 2017? To help you browse them, Snapchat introduces Lens Explorer to view lenses created by users from around the world. Community Lenses can be found alongside the Lens Carousel. Right now, the feature is only available on iOS.
With so much creativity out there, it will be great to see and play with content created by Snapchatters.
YouTube introduced Copyright Match
Are you manually checking for reuploads of your videos? Copyright Match can help you with that. It is a new tool for finding re-uploads of your original content on other channels. If such content is detected by YouTube, results or ‘matches will be reviewed in YouTube Studio.
The tool was rolled out to creators who have more than 100k subscribers. YouTube is planning to expand it to every creator in the YouTube Partner program. Misusing the tool may lead to losing the feature or even termination of a creator’s YouTube partnership.
