The Jewellery Channel (TJC) is the leading jewellery retailer in the UK online and teleshopping sectors. Launched in 2006, today its TV Shopping Network broadcasts to over 30 million homes across the UK and Republic of Ireland. TJC’s online store offers customers over 40,000 items across 40 different brands, including TJC’s own brands such as Strada, J.Francis, Rhapsody and Karis.

To promote its growth, TJC came to Dept to help them leverage Salesforce Commerce Cloud. As the Solution Integrator, Dept undertook project consulting, full implementation activities, and QA testing.

THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A CLOUD-BASED COMMERCE SOLUTION

TJC realised that it needed to scale-up its ecommerce capabilities, in order to match the business’s rapid growth. So, TJC said goodbye to its in-house developed platform and switched to Salesforce Commerce Cloud’s SaaS-solution. Dept integrated the existing store into the Salesforce Commerce Cloud environment in only five months, so TJC could launch its new online shop quickly.

MULTI-CHANNEL AUCTIONS AND FEATURES FOR SUCCESS

A particular challenge for Dept’s team was the synchronisation of the two shopping worlds – telephone and online shopping. TJC offers its jewellery lovers the opportunity to participate in the live TV auctions online. Now online customers can not only live stream the auctions, but can also place their bids on the luxurious products and receive them instantly upon winning.

Dept developed the shop using a responsive design to improve customer experience. As a result, the content of the shop adapts flexibly to the preferred device of the individual user – desktop, smartphone or tablet.

In addition, Dept implemented a number of features to support this new and improved design by integrating third-party providers such as Paypal, V12, Netbanx, Reevoo and many more.
