A new identity to increase awareness
Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia are presenting the human race with one of its toughest challenges. Alzheimer Nederland works hard to raise awareness and funds for vital research, but times are hard, and competition for donors has never been tougher. With their existing style lacking both emotion and a competitive edge, Dept (Studio Dumbar) designed a new visual identity.
The new visual identity created both emotion and a competitive edge
Alzheimer Netherlands has been active in supporting people and their relatives with dementia since 1984. Together with a lot of volunteers, they strive towards a future without dementia while in the meantime they work towards a better life for the patients now. A noble cause, that needs a lot of support. That’s where Dept comes in to help. Creating a new visual identity that will not only increase emotional connection to the cause, but also add that competitive edge that will make sure they can continue to do their jobs.
Communication design with integrity for the Dutch Alzheimer Foundation
Having met patients, families and carers to experience the disease first-hand, we developed a strong and instantly recognisable identity. The new logotype is bold and confident. The ‘vanishing points’ visualize the effects of dementia, while some people see them as a source of light and hope. The most important moment in the process came when the identity was shared with patients and carers. We were delighted and relieved when their feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and people continue to comment on how they feel an immediate emotional connection with the identity.
