This position sits within BYTE/DEPT® based in London (we would be open to this person being Manchester based). We combine data, technology, content, and paid media to crack brands’ business problems & drive revenue through a variety of digital marketing solutions like ad campaigns, augmented reality, and chatbots. Our clients include Spotify, ASOS, Just Eat Takeaway, Twitch, TikTok, and The White Company.

JOB PURPOSE
We are looking for a talented Lead Motion Designer to join the design team. You’ll work across a number of projects, but with a focus for one of the largest food delivery brands in the world, and one of our biggest clients. Working with senior members of the design team, you’ll act as a brand guardian for the account, specialising within the motion / animation space. We’re looking for someone who has experience working on large scale digital brands. You will thrive working in a busy environment, and across multiple projects, having a keen design eye when overseeing work. You will ensure all assets align to brand guidelines, meet clients needs and uphold the quality of work we pride ourselves on at Dept.
Our designers often work on projects that require art direction, graphic design, 2D/3D motion, and/or editing. You will understand traditional graphic design and motion theory, but know how and when to challenge it, to push development and innovation. You’ll be confident in leading on a large account with a number of stakeholders, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
You’ll come with a stand out portfolio showcasing design thinking, process and execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Explore and work within a variety of different formats and platforms to create global campaigns and editorial social content
- Generate creative ideas, from small scale markets to global campaign reach
- Oversee and lead members of the team to bring out their best
- Collaborate with other designers and wider business teams
- Be aware of and respond to current design culture
- Contribute to our creative process by sharing your ideas and experience
- Be confident in presenting work internally and externally
- Stay up-to-date with industry development and tools
- Build a productive and working relationship with all business teams to deliver projects
- Maintain brand consistency throughout all projects
SKILLS AND PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- Solid experience as a Lead Motion Designer or similar role
- Outstanding showreel and/or portfolio showcasing impressive brand campaign and social design experience
- Expert knowledge of Adobe creative suite
- Experience with layout, colour theory and typography in digital media
- Strong aesthetic skills with graphic design principles knowledge
- Ability to meet deadline and collaborate with a team and clients
- Excellent attention to visual details
- Ability to remain focused under pressure within a fast-paced environment
- A love for learning new things and exploring new formats
Nice to have:
- Experience in video editing
- Cinema 4D
- Blender
- Experience with AR
- Experience with photography or videography
- Experience with sound design and using Audition
- Impressive illustration skills
