Dept wins three Red Dot Design Awards
Annually, the Red Dot Awards honours the best designed brands and creative projects from designers, agencies, and companies around the globe. Digital agency Dept received three awards for their work for the Van Gogh Museum, Request and their project Cities in Motion.
For their creative work in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum, the digital agency won an award in the category Brand & Communication Design. Dept helped the Amsterdam-based museum in organising the brand governance and refresh the brand identity. The main elements centered around refinement, clarification and the selection of colours that carry the historical artist’s legacy.
Studio Dumbar (part of Dept) and Dept’s collaborative work on the design of the visual identity and new website for the online financial transaction platform Request was granted with a second award in the category Brand Design & Identity. By establishing a dynamic and contemporary identity, they sidestepped the FinTech industry design trends of using diamond or crystal-shaped icons. With this approach they have successfully set Request apart from competitors.
Lastly, Studio Dumbar was awarded for their project Cities in Motion in the category Typography. The international outdoor advertising experts Exterion Media invited the design agency to create a series of exciting motion graphics for screens on railway station platforms across the Netherlands. A simple, creative solution was devised: motion graphics portrayed the name of a station’s city in a welcoming way using the city’s colors.
Liza Enebeis, Creative Director at Studio Dumbar emphasizes the timelessness of the visual identity and designs created for Request and Cities in Motion. “We put motion at the heart of a brand’s DNA, and let its messages adapt seamlessly to both existing and future media formats to create strong brand identities that can withstand the test of time. We’re very excited about the acknowledgement from Red Dot.”
The Red Dot Gala will take place on November 1st, 2019, in the Konzerthaus Berlin, Germany.
