Ten Crazy Questions: Liza Enebeis
Curious about the people who work at Dept and make all the amazing work you see of us? We thought so. In this new blog format we’re introducing our employees one by one by not asking the regular questions, but different ones. Want to know who once put 250 of our business contacts in cc instead of bcc in an email, who desperately wants to see the Clueless trend make a comeback in fashion and who really feels a bond with peanut butter? You’re about to find out.
Hi Liza! How did you end up at Dept and what do you do here all day?
I am from the Studio Dumbar team – our speciality is visual identities – from strategy to reality. We joined Dept in 2016. I have been with Studio Dumbar as Creative Director the last 10 years. Joining Dept was great it was like starting new. So many new colleagues and an extreme boost of knowledge and talent. What I do all day?? I spend most of the day working with the designers in the team, guiding them through projects and the creative process. Preparing presentations, presenting, public speaking and workshops.
Let’s say you didn’t work here, what would be your daily activity?
I would spend more time on my podcast station that I co-founded and co-host called Typeradio.org. There are over 500 interviews on type and design free to download. You can listen to the super famous like Paula Scher, Stefan Sagmeister, Wim Crouwel and young and upcoming talent. I still have an endless list of people I want to interview so this would be the chance.
If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
A fruit fly – Just hanging out with the fruits all day
If you had to start a completely different job tomorrow, what would it be?
A camel jockey
What is always in your bag (phone, wallet and keys excluded)?
A red dice with the text Lady Luck engraved – you always need luck on your side.
Which word do you always miss-spell?
Definitly, Defenetly, Defenitly?
Describe the Dutch weather in 4 words.
Rain sun aah rain
What was your biggest fashion mistake?
Forever without a phone or forever without a laptop?
Who needs a laptop when you have a phone the size of a widescreen
How prepared are you for a zombie apocalypse?
Very prepared – we have had a long discussion with the Dumbar team. I will be the first to go. I can’t run to save my life. Plus I am not skinny so there is plenty to feast on and slow down the zombies – this will help the rest of the team to gain time and run away.
