Dept wins Webby Award for App Unravel Van Gogh

On April 23rd, 2019, the winners were announced for the Webby Awards, the leading award show honoring excellence in the digital world. Dept has won a Webby in the category ‘Apps, Mobile & Voice – Culture & Events’ for their app Unravel Van Gogh.

Unravel Van Gogh is an application in which user-friendly designs illustrate the story of the historical Dutch artist. This was commissioned by the Van Gogh Museum, with the purpose of increasing the interest level and engaging a younger audience in the tales and art of Van Gogh.

The award is a People’s Voice award, meaning it was based on votes of the public. Mandy de Kort, project manager: “After all the hard work we are happy with the final result: Unravel van Gogh is a really innovative digital experience: very accessible, user-friendly and interactive. To see that voters of the Webby Awards agree with us feels like a cherry on top of the cake!”

Aside from the Webby Award that has been received for Unravel Van Gogh, Dept has also been awarded three honorees for their work with Formula E, Philips Hue, and Samsung.

The 23rd Annual Webby Awards Show will take place on May 13th in New York, NY.
