Dept nominated for the European Design Awards
Dept has been nominated for not one, not two, but three entries by the European Design Awards in 2019! These prizes are meant to honor the best examples of communication design and creative excellence. For this edition of the award show, Dept is in the running for their work with Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Justdiggit and Unravel Van Gogh.
In the category of “Integrated Identity Application”, Studio Dumbar, part of Dept, has been nominated for the new visual identity created for Amsterdam Sinfonietta. Amsterdam Sinfonietta saw that the media landscape has evolved and they needed to change how they communicated across all digital platforms.
Also, the Justdiggit website has been nominated as a “Promotional Website”. Justdiggit trains people in areas of drought to dig half-moon circles in which rainwater is collected. Dept created an app which bridges the gap between donations to farmers in Tanzania who can then use it to dig a hole in a qualifying area.
Lastly, the app created for Van Gogh has been nominated under the category of “Informational Site”. Commissioned by the Van Gogh Museum, the digital agency developed an application together with Studio Dumbar, in which the user-friendly design illustrated the story of the historical artist.
The winners will be announced Saturday, June 8th and a ceremony will take place in Warsaw, Poland that same weekend.
