At DEPT\u00ae, contributing to this global effort remains a top priority.

As part of this journey, we are excited to announce that our climate targets have been officially approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This means our commitment to cutting emissions is not just well-intentioned, it\u2019s transparent, credible, and aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5\u00b0C, the level scientists agree is necessary to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\tOur emission goals<\/h2>\n\tOverall: achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our entire value chain by 2050 from a 2023 baseline.

By 2030:<\/p>\n\n\t
  • Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42%.<\/li>
  • Source 100% of our energy from renewable sources.<\/li>
  • Ensure 77% of our key suppliers have science-based targets.<\/li><\/ul>\n\nBy 2033:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\t
  • Reduce Scope 3 emissions from business travel and employee commuting by 61.1% per FTE.<\/li><\/ul>\n\nBy 2050:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\t
  • Reduce Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 90%.<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\tClimate Label certification<\/h2>\n\tAdditionally, for the fifth year, we’ve earned the Climate Label<\/strong> certification. Through our Climate Label certification, we measure our carbon footprint annually, set reduction targets, reduce emissions, and fund projects to both reduce and offset our carbon footprint.\u00a0

    In 2025, the Climate Label introduced a new requirement for certified companies called the Climate Transition Budget, requiring certified <\/strong>companies to allocate a minimum budget for climate solutions based on the size of their emissions. Aligned with the Climate Label standard, we invested this budget across projects that directly reduce emissions within our value chain, such as renewable energy, projects that support the overall net-zero transition, including working with an advisory firm to set credible targets, and market-based projects, such as carbon credits.\u00a0

    This past year, we also partnered with 51toCarbonZero<\/strong><\/a>, a climate-tech company dedicated to helping organisations understand and reduce their carbon emissions. Their platform consolidates an enterprise\u2019s entire carbon footprint, providing real-time data and actionable insights to drive carbon reduction.

    Our primary goal in working with 51toCarbonZero was to collaborate with a climate advisor who, beyond providing software, would consistently support us on our emissions reduction journey and help keep us on track with our science-based targets.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n

    \n\t\tLearn more about our carbon footprint and progress through the years in our latest Impact Report.<\/p>\t<\/div>\n\t\n\tImpact Report<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\tWhat DEPT\u00ae is doing to reduce\u00a0<\/h2>\n\tWe\u2019ve put together an action plan to reduce our emissions and align with science-based targets across the short, medium, and long term. Here\u2019s a quick look at what we\u2019ve done so far and where we\u2019re headed.

    Scope 1 and 2<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\t
  • We’re working on transitioning to an electric vehicle fleet for our leased vehicles and will move towards 100% electric vehicles over the next few years.<\/li>
  • We\u2019ve been steadily increasing our use of renewable energy at our offices, and recently transitioned our Boston, Newburyport, and Denver offices to renewables. We\u2019ve got more offices in the US on the list to transition to renewables next.<\/li>
  • We are working hard on energy efficiency improvements across all offices. Recent examples include upgrades in our Aarhus, Hamburg, and Buenos Aires offices \u2013 everything from LED bulbs to smart dimmers.<\/li><\/ul>\n\nScope 3<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\t
  • We’re promoting sustainable business travel by prioritising trains, minimising layovers, and ensuring travel is only when necessary. Next, we plan to translate the policy into local actions and targets.<\/li>
  • We prioritise relationships with suppliers committed to making a positive environmental impact. We are actively implementing programs to provide support, capacity building, and incentives to help suppliers improve and set science-based targets themselves.<\/li>
  • We’re developing localised waste management processes tailored to the specific realities of each location.<\/li>
  • We’ve got insights on how we commute to the office. Next step: turning those insights into action to help facilitate greener travel.<\/li><\/ul>\n\nWe understand the urgency of climate action. Validating our science-based targets is just the start. Now we’re building a clear, practical plan to achieve net zero by 2050 and support a sustainable future.
