Imagine more useful touchpoints with customers as they update their car\u2019s features and functionalities.\u00a0<br><br>Plus, we can\u2019t forget that the global subscription market is set to reach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibm.com\/thought-leadership\/institute-business-value\/en-us\/report\/subscription-business-model\">$12.5 billion by 2026<\/a>, allowing auto manufacturers to increase revenue (and likely profit).\u00a0<br><br>But here\u2019s the dilemma.\u00a0<br><br>Consumers don\u2019t like your subscriptions.\u00a0<br><br>A 2022 survey (aptly named \u201cThe subscription apocalypse\u201d) found that 40% of consumers think they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kearney.com\/consumer-retail\/article\/-\/insights\/the-subscription-apocalypse\">have too many subscriptions<\/a>. And some car enthusiasts have taken to online communities to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/technology\/comments\/13hewok\/a_monthly_fee_for_heated_seats_car_subscriptions\/\">voice<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/verge\/status\/1546807883395899392\">their<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/JoeRogan\/comments\/123mspl\/the_death_of_car_ownership_as_a_consumer_in_2023\/\">opinions<\/a> on paying monthly for heated seats.\u00a0<br><br>Subscription fatigue is real, and brands that don\u2019t carefully deploy them will face stagnant growth in digital.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\t<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\n\t<div typography__align--left\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\tWhat you sell is a complex question since you\u2019re now selling a digital product. If you sell something historically \u201cstandard\u201d (e.g., heated seats), consumers will feel ripped off. If you sell something ubiquitous (e.g., an in-car music streaming platform), consumers will ignore you in favor of their current app.\u00a0<br><br>You\u2019ve got to find out what incremental service offers unique utility. What will allow you to add value to the car-driving experience? If you remove a once-had feature, does it damage customer relationships?\u00a0\u00a0<br><br>Figuring what to sell comes down to digital product innovation.\u00a0<br><br>Product innovation is a never-ending list of challenges, from flimsy processes to ineffective market research to the undeniable difficulty that is coming up with incremental product offerings. Then, of course, you need to align and execute.\u00a0<br><br>While there\u2019s no magic approach to conceiving a homerun product idea, it starts with getting your teams ready for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deptagency.com\/insight\/is-your-organization-equipped-for-continuous-product-innovation\/\">continuous innovation<\/a>.
