typography__align--left\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\tPut simply, it\u2019s the number of users performing a one-page visit to a website expressed as a percentage.\t<\/p>\n\n<h2\t\tclass=\"typography block-typography__typography typography__color--lightGrey typography__size--h6 typography__align--left\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\tThe long (official) version\t<\/h2>\n\n<p\t\tclass=\"typography block-typography__typography typography__color--lightGrey typography__size--regular-body typography__align--left\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\tTo be a bit more wordy (or should that be nerdy?) about it, Google\u2019s definition is: \u201c\u2026a single-page session on your site. In [Google] Analytics, a bounce is calculated specifically as a session that triggers only a single request to the Analytics server, such as when a user opens a single page on your site and then exits without triggering any other requests to the Analytics server during that session\u201d. So now we know.<br><br>Don\u2019t confuse a bounce with an exit which simply refers to the point at which users leave the website, regardless of how many pages they\u2019ve For example, the user clicks through from a paid search ad expecting to see one thing, and is presented with something else. The content might not be what they\u2019re looking for, and so off they go to try to find a website with more suitable information.<\/li><li>Remember a bounce can be good! Think about if the user is visiting a website just for one single targeted piece of content. They might be looking to find a telephone number, get directions, download a document, or to read a specific news article. These are all perfect examples of where a high bounce rate is not only acceptable, it\u2019s expected.<\/li><li>And sometimes life just gets in the way.
