By partnering with DEPT\u00ae and improving their organic findability.<\/p><\/div>\n\n<div\n\tclass=\"block-assets-and-copy js-block-assets-and-copy\"\n\tdata-variant=\"fifty-fifty-asset\"\n\tdata-content-align=\"center\"\n>\n\t<p\tclass=\"text text-sans-48 block-assets-and-copy__title\"\n\tdata-animation=\"slide\" data-animation-target=\"words\" >Duplicate pages: a true conversion killer<\/p><div\tdata-animation=\"slide-fade\" data-animation-target=\"inner-items-separate\" data-animation-delay=\"0.15\" data-animation-stagger=\"0.2\" class=\"block-assets-and-copy__content\" >\n\t<p\tclass=\"text text-sans-24 block-assets-and-copy__text\"\n\t>Each market has its own Rituals website, which is needed in order to ship the products to various countries. As a result, there are no less than 22 duplicates of the English website alone!<br><br>That is not great in terms of SEO when one considers the large amount of duplicate content, significant fragmentation in authority and waste of crawl budget with more than one million pages.<br><br>To give you an example, this is what happened in practice: people in France that used French search terms in their search would sometimes end up on a website that was in French but for Luxembourg. That was due to duplicate content and incorrect hreflang tags which resulted in the wrong indexation. As a French person, however, it wasn\u2019t possible to check out on the Luxembourg website version. This entailed an extensive migration of all individual websites to one .com domain, focusing on \u201cindexability\u201d, \u201ccrawlability\u201d, \u201cauthority\u201d and \u201cusability\u201d.<br><br>We kept the deadline of fall in mind, so the rewards could be reaped in the winter season: the ultimate gift-giving season for Rituals.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<img\n\t\t\t\t\tsrc=\"https:\/\/www.deptagency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Rituals_5.png\"\n\t\t\t\t\talt=\"\"\n\t\t\t\t\tclass=\"block-assets-and-copy__media js-block-assets-and-copy-media is-first\"\n\t\t\t\t\tdata-animation=\"scale-fade\"\n\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img\n\t\t\t\t\tsrc=\"https:\/\/www.deptagency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Rituals_6.png\"\n\t\t\t\t\talt=\"\"\n\t\t\t\t\tclass=\"block-assets-and-copy__media js-block-assets-and-copy-media is-second\"\n\t\t\t\t\tdata-animation=\"scale-fade\"\n\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n<div\n\tclass=\"block-assets-and-copy js-block-assets-and-copy\"\n\tdata-variant=\"full-width-content\"\n\tdata-content-align=\"center\"\n>\n\t<p\tclass=\"text text-sans-48 block-assets-and-copy__title\"\n\tdata-animation=\"slide\" data-animation-target=\"words\" >Combining similar website pages<\/p><div\tdata-animation=\"slide-fade\" data-animation-target=\"inner-items-separate\" data-animation-delay=\"0.15\" data-animation-stagger=\"0.2\" class=\"block-assets-and-copy__content\" >\n\t<p\tclass=\"text text-sans-24 block-assets-and-copy__text\"\n\t>Besides rationalisation, the right international tagging (\u201chreflang\u201d and Search Console), languages and currencies had to be added. Because of the large number of pages and duplicates, Google failed to pick up on the pages in the way that it should have. The choice was made to make one version indexable per language\/currency. The following considerations were taken into account:<\/p>\n<ul\n\tclass=\"list text-sans-24 block-list__list\"\n\t>\n\t<li>The link value of the duplicates could not be lost, which is why 301 redirects were moved from the duplicate pages to the main page.<\/li><li>The pages that were to disappear still needed to be available for campaigns and checkout, which is why duplicates of those pages were created. However, these duplicate pages aren\u2019t visible in search engines. Consequently, a \u2018disallow\u2019 in the robots.txt (crawlability &amp; indexability) and, for completeness, a \u2018noindex\u2019 were added to the \u201cnew\u201d duplicate pages.<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n<div\n\tclass=\"block-assets-and-copy js-block-assets-and-copy\"\n\tdata-variant=\"full-width-content\"\n\tdata-content-align=\"center\"\n>\n\t<p\tclass=\"text text-sans-48 block-assets-and-copy__title\"\n\tdata-animation=\"slide\" data-animation-target=\"words\" >Results<\/p><div\tdata-animation=\"slide-fade\" data-animation-target=\"inner-items-separate\" data-animation-delay=\"0.15\" data-animation-stagger=\"0.2\" class=\"block-assets-and-copy__content\" >\n\t<p\tclass=\"text text-sans-24 block-assets-and-copy__text\"\n\t>The migration to only one rituals.com domain led to several positive results:<\/p>\n<ul\n\tclass=\"list text-sans-24 block-list__list\"\n\t>\n\t<li>Greatly improved indexation.<\/li><li>Crawl budget much better spent.<\/li><li>Increased authority.<\/li><li>Check-out on the website the customers entered organically.<\/li><li>Revenue increased with 186% before Rituals peak season (winter).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p\tclass=\"text text-sans-24 block-text__text\"\n\t>Discover\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/rituals.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rituals.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\n\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Rituals has grown into a must-have Home &#038; Body cosmetics brand over the years.
