We are looking for a Junior Front End Developer to join our Manchester team to support the successful transformation of our clients’ dream designs into well-functioning platforms.

As a Junior Front End Developer, you will work on a variety of digital projects for high profile B2B and B2C brands. You will be part of a team that builds mobile-first, cross-browser compatible, high performing websites and strive to look for better tools and techniques to introduce into the workplace.

You will work heavily with React and modern JavaScript frameworks, as well as some legacy projects built in Vanilla JS and/or jQuery. You will continuously aim to improve, which DEPT® will support by providing training and on-project experience to make sure you’re up-to-date with the latest technologies.

YOU:

  • Are adept with HTML and CSS and have experience writing JavaScript, including ES6
  • Have experience building React applications, including some knowledge of hooks and the context API
  • Have strong attention to detail
    Have experience in responsive website development, with good knowledge of media queries, flex/grid layout and positioning rules in CSS
  • Have experience or awareness of CSS preprocessors (e.g. Sass and Less)
  • Have experience or awareness of script bundlers (e.g. Webpack) and using version control (Git)
  •  Are able to translate creative ideas and mockups into interactive prototypes
  • Have the drive to improve your skills and hone your craft
  • Experience building for content management systems, with styled-components and using Next.js and/or Gatsby would be advantageous 
  • Knowledge of jQuery and/or Gulp would also be beneficial

Principal UX Designer

DEPT® is looking for a Principal UX Designer to join our Experience Design team in Manchester. Our Experience Design team is mixed disciplinary, comprising UX Specialists, Product Owners and Visual Designers. You will work collaboratively within the team to create amazing experiences that exceed client expectations for a variety of global, high-profile B2B and B2C brands.

The purpose of the Principal role is two-fold. Firstly, you will scope projects in the early stages  by estimating and defining tasks, structuring project deliverables, making sure you have the right people and process in place to successfully deliver project work. Secondly, you will take the lead in running client-facing engagements, running design sprints and stakeholder workshops, as well as delivering exceptional designs using the latest tools, technology and processes.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be an expert in UX, research and design practices such as customer journeys, wireframing, usability testing and prototyping. You will also have a  good understanding around wider technologies, platforms and digital strategy. You will help your team produce and deliver reports that summarise findings and help clients to define how to measure their digital success with objectives and KPIs.

As this is a client-facing role, you will need to be comfortable dealing with people, and confident when communicating your research and ideas. The successful candidate would be expected to work collaboratively with senior client stakeholders and within the team, using their creativity and experience to find effective solutions to digital challenges.

  • Are an expert in your field, with 8-10 years of experience in UX, research and design 
  • Understand the UCD process from start to finish including the production of deliverables across multiple disciplines
  • Are capable of scoping work, defining our approach to projects and delivering pitches
  • Are able to provide detailed estimates and approaches for both discovery (research) and definition (design) phases of work
  • Are capable of leading a team through projects, mentoring/coaching where necessary
  • Are a natural problem solver and can help others identify solutions to fix problems

  • Are experienced in working with agile and waterfall processes

  • Are experienced in working with atomic design and design systems, and using reusable components

  • Are curious to learn and have a proactive approach to sharing knowledge with others

DEPT® is looking for a Technical Lead to join our Manchester team and play a fundamental role within the Digital Operations Support (DOS) team, taking responsibility for the technical delivery and mentorship of our Junior Developers.

Working closely with the Service Delivery Manager, you will ensure the satisfaction of clients and that we are delivering on our contractual obligations. This position is still very much a hands-on technical role and you will also be involved in the development of technical solutions.

Business Analyst/Product Owner

For our Manchester office we are looking for a Business Analyst to join the Product Team working on projects across multiple client accounts, both big and small, across a number of technologies. You’ll be working collaboratively as part of a close knit, fully integrated team to build and maintain world-class websites.

As a Business Analyst you will take the lead of product development teams providing vision and direction to both internal and external stakeholders. You will work closely with other team leads and clients to create a programme of tasks by gathering and developing requirements. You will then be responsible for planning and prioritising the product backlog and roadmap. 

You will take ownership of medium/large projects and act as the product advocate for both users and clients ensuring that users get the best possible experience and that the client’s business requirements are met ensuring a positive ROI. As part of building excellent products, you will be expected to plan and deliver workshops with all levels of stakeholders to elicit requirements.

Mentorship is an important part of the role. You will be assigned a mentee who you can guide your development as a Business Analyst and help with any related training, learning & development.

Senior UX Designer

We are looking for a Senior UX Designer / Researcher to join our Experience Design team in Manchester. Our Experience Design team is a mixed discipline of UX Specialists, Product Owners and Visual Designers. You will work collaboratively within the team to create amazing experiences that exceed client expectations for a variety of global, high-profile B2B and B2C brands.

The purpose of the Senior UX Designer/Researcher role is two-fold. Firstly, you will support projects in the early Discovery Phases by undertaking UX Research tasks such as Stakeholder Interviews, Usability Tests, Analytics Reviews and Workshops. Secondly, you will turn the insights you have found from your research into recommendations, producing wireframes and working collaboratively with Visual Designers to bring your ideas to life.

To be a success in this role, you’ll need to be proficient in UX Research and Design practices such as wireframing, usability testing and prototyping. You will produce and deliver reports that summarise your findings, and help clients to define how to measure their digital success with objectives and KPIs. 

As this is a client-facing role, you will need to be comfortable dealing with people, and confident when communicating your research and ideas. The successful candidate would be expected to work collaboratively with senior client stakeholders and within the team, using their creativity and experience to find effective solutions to digital challenges.

YOU:

  • At least 4 years’ industry experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to undertake UX Research tasks from Usability Testing to Stakeholder Interviews, and experience in producing reports based on your findings. 
  • Proficiency in wireframing tools such as Sketch and Axure,
  • Ability to create storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps.
  • Experience working within a Content Management System (CMS).
  • Experience delivering client workshops, both in person and remotely.
  • Strong remote working skills, including managing time and projects with great communication and delivering productive, engaging remote workshops with clients.
  • You’re able to work alongside UI / Visual Designers to bring ideas to life, and are comfortable presenting your findings and recommendations.
  • You’re up-to-date with the latest UX / UI trends, techniques, and technologies.
  • You have excellent attention to detail and strive for perfection. 
  • You enjoy working collaboratively within a team, using creativity and different viewpoints to find effective solutions to digital challenges.
