For marketing leaders, this isn’t a channel shift to manage\u2014it’s a question of whether your brand is understood, trusted, and recommended by the systems now sitting between you and your customer.

Recent WFA research found that 66% of brands expect AI-generated search experiences to reduce organic traffic to their sites. And while 65% are already reviewing their approach, only 4% report having made significant changes so far.

The uncertainty is understandable. Because it\u2019s all too often treated as a technical optimisation problem: structured data, content formatting, AI search results. While that work matters, it’s not where a CMO’s leverage lies, and it understates the scale of the shift.

Because LLMs don’t pull from a single page or ranking position. They synthesise across a brand’s entire footprint, from owned channels and earned media to creator content and third-party validation. Visibility now depends on whether your brand is consistently understood and reinforced across the whole information environment AI systems draw on.

As we move toward an agentic reality, discoverability becomes a coordinated system spanning content, media, governance, creator ecosystems, data, and organisational structure. That makes it a strategic mandate, not an SEO workstream, and one that cuts across functions only a marketing leader can align.
